I just watched the video that Emancipated Human posted on facebook of a talk with you. I really connect with a lot of things you were talking about. I am a mother of a 3 year old boy and I practice attachment parenting and plan on unschooling. I am currently reading and trying to put into practice concepts in two parenting books, “The Concious Parent” and “Unconditional Parenting”. I would really like to learn more about Nonviolent Communication. What book or books do you recommend?

Laura, I would have loved to respond sooner, however I’ve been traveling. I’m so happy that you’ve reached out to me. (: I really enjoyed Kohn’s Unconditional Parenting, I think he presents really meaningful arguments as for the “whys”, however many people after reading his work are curious about the “hows”. For me, that’s where practicing NVC comes into play. The ideal place to begin is through Marshall Rosenberg’s book Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life. I also highly recommend Daniel Siegel’s book Parenting From The Inside Out.
